• Drafts for Mac Beta

It's officially in public beta, and it's awesome. I have been a Drafts user since roughly forever. I've been as all-in on Drafts as I could be since version 5 launched. The missing piece was notes on my Mac - most recently, I'd been using the built-in Notes app. Notes is nice, of course. It's really good for most people. My big problem with it, though, is not knowing where anything lives. Most of my notes were in Drafts. Some were in Notes. I had to search in two places at best. At worst, I couldn't get to the stuff I wanted from my MacBook.

    No longer.

As soon as the first private Drafts for Mac beta launched, I moved everything that lived in Notes to Drafts. Now I know exactly, instantly where all of my text lives. It's in Drafts. All of it. Not most of it. All of it. I never have to think. Not having to think is perhaps the best benefit of a good system.

  • Server maintenance

Having a VPS is usually nice. When you get an email from Dropbox reminding you that you're running an ancient version of Ubuntu that soon won't support the Dropbox CLI, it's less nice.

Instead of upgrading directly, I set up a new Droplet and moved everything over from scratch. Good practice, less cruft. So far, everything seems to be working.

  • It seems wrong to have a favorite poem, since I dont like poems. Still, this one by Charles Baudelaire is fantastic.

One should always be drunk. That's all that matters; that's our one imperative need. So as not to feel Time's horrible burden that breaks your shoulders and bows you down, you must get drunk without ceasing.

It's coming. For each and every one of us. We don’t know when or how or where we will be. Yet, it is certain.

  • Hibernation

It's been over a year since any words I wrote have been published online. No Twitter. No Facebook. No website.

I am not a person on the internet1, and have not been for a long time. It's been nice.

Maybe this sticks, and I put some words here on a semi-regular basis. Maybe just once in a while. Maybe not very often at all. I'm not sure yet, but here, at least, are a few words.

    1. This is one of the best things published on the internet, ever.
