AI is somehow both ahead and behind where people think it is.

Tellingly, AlphaZero won by thinking smarter, not faster; it examined only 60 thousand positions a second, compared to 60 million for Stockfish. It was wiser, knowing what to think about and what to ignore.

This is the most striking thing - it's not all brute force now.

Things got a dark / black mode on iOS today. Now all the stuff I will never get to looks nicer.

My favorite part is how it has to "optimize" each app, one by one, very slowly, after each OS update. Of which there are many.

Setting up an old Android phone to test something. So far, I'm up to 6 OS updates, and as many restarts. If Google was going for the Windows feel, they really nailed it.
